Lucknow Super Giants release head coach Andy Flower ahead of IPL 2024

Lucknow Super Giants have parted ways with head coach Andy Flower ahead of the next edition of IPL.

Amidst reports of Justin Langer being approached, Indian Premier League franchise Lucknow Super Giants have parted ways with their head coach Andy Flower ahead of the next season of the IPL.

The LSG franchise took to Twitter to share the news. The official handle of the franchise wrote: “Dear Andy, Today it’s farewell, but it’ll never be goodbye because you’ll always be one of our own. Thank you for everything".

The former Zimbabwe cricketer has been the coach for the franchise since it became a part of IPL in 2022. Under Andy Flower, the team made it to the playoffs in both seasons, but could not make it to the final.

According to reports, the Super Giants have decided not to renew his contract. Former Australian cricketer Justin Langer is in the race to become the new head coach of the franchise. However, there is no official announcement regarding the appointment of the new coach yet.

Andy Flower is currently working with the Australian team as a consultant for the ongoing Men's Ashes series.

Flower, a three-time Ashes-winning coach with the men's team, joined the management before the third Test at Headingley. Australia are trying to win the Ashes at the away venue. Both England and Australia have won all their home Ashes series so far since 2010/11. Australian men's team, who are currently leading the Test series 2-1, have a good chance of breaking the record.
