Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) sign Sridharan Sriram as assistant coach for the IPL 2024

Sridharan Sriram has worked with Australia earlier and will join Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for IPL 2024.

The cricket fraternity is eagerly waiting for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. Meanwhile, the IPL franchises are making some big moves considering the next season of Indian Premier League in 2024. And the most active franchise is Lucknow Super Giants, who made their IPL debut in 2022. Led by KL Rahul, this team made the playoffs in both of their seasons.

Now, the franchise is looking to go one step ahead and win an IPL title in the coming season. As a result, the Lucknow franchise have made some big decisions within the team, especially with the support staff. Earlier, the franchise replaced Andy Flower with Justin Langer as the head coach. Now, the franchise has roped in Sridharan Sriram as their assistant coach for the next season.

Furthermore, the franchise has made former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir their global mentor. All these announcements were made on Saturday. The support staff led by Justin Langer will have the likes of Vijay Dahiya as assistant coach and Pravin Tambe as bowling coach, who will resume their duties. On the other hand, the franchise has also retained Morne Morkel and Jonty Rhodes as bowling and fielding coaches.

LSG shared the news on their website: "Sridharan Sriram brings with him extensive coaching experience. In his tenure with the Bangladesh men’s national T-20 team, he skillfully led them to secure two remarkable victories in the Super-12s of the 2022 T-20 World Cup. RPSG Sports and Lucknow Super Giants are thrilled to welcome the seasoned coach and look forward to an exciting journey ahead!"

Notably, Sridharan has already worked with Langer during their stints with Australian men's cricket team. He worked with Australia since 2015 and left in 2022. Sridharan has also worked with Royal Challengers Bangalore as a bowling coach in the 2022 season. After that season, he joined Bangladesh as head coach for Asia Cup 2022 and the 2022 T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, the IPL 2024 mini-auction is likely to be held in December.
