Tom Moody will take over the role performed by Zaheer Khan for LSG in IPL 2025.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has appointed Tom Moody as the Global Director of Cricket ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. He will join hands with his former Australia teammate Justin Langer, who is the current head coach of the franchise and New Zealand batter Kane Williamson, who was recently appointed as the strategic advisor by LSG.
As the global cricket director of LSG, Moody will undertake the role performed by Zaheer Khan in the previous season. The former Indian pacer parted ways with LSG as Director of Cricket in September. While LSG had appointed Khan for a two-year contract, his tenure ended after one year.
Other than LSG in IPL, Moody will also be in charge of Durbanâs Super Giants in SA20 and Manchester Originals in The Hundred. The franchise will be renamed as Manchester Super Giants from the next season.
The 60-year-old Australian is among the most acclaimed coaches in franchise T20 cricket. Earlier this year, he guided Oval Invincibles to the title in The Hundred as head coach. LSG, owned by RP Sanjiv Goenka Group (RPSG), mare the decision public through social media post.
Tom Moody returns to IPL after the 2022 season

Notably, the former Australian cricketer will return to IPL after the 2022 season and has vast experience in the tournament. He was the head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2022 and was the Director of Cricket in the 2021 season. From 2013 to 2019, he was the head coach of SRH, and also guided the team to the title in the IPL 2016 edition. In the first three seasons from 2008 to 2010, he coached Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings).
Meanwhile, LSG will aim for a brilliant comeback in IPL 2026 after Moodyâs appointment. After making it to the playoffs in the first two seasons in 2022 and 2023, they had a dismal performance in the last two seasons and failed to qualify for the playoffs. In IPL 2025, they had just six wins out of 14 games and finished seventh in the points table.
