Avesh Khan & Mohsin Khan to play in SA20 2026? LSG to send star bowlers to Durban ahead of IPL 2026

Durban Super Giants of SA20 is a sister franchise of the Lucknow IPL franchise.

In an attempt to recover from their disappointing previous season, in which they finished seventh in the points table, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have begun preparations for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) season.

During the SA20 2026 season, which starts on Boxing Day (December 26), the Sanjiv Goenka-owned team will send their bowlers to South Africa to train with Durban’s Super Giants, LSG’s sister team. LSG have a large pool of local and Indian bowlers with great potential.

Unfortunately for the team, the majority of their fast bowlers have been prone to injuries and have not yet been used to their full potential. Recent injuries have affected players like Mayank Yadav, Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, Akash Singh, and Prince Yadav.

Three LSG pacers to train under the Durban franchise in SA20 2026 before IPL 2026

During the SA20 2026 season, which starts on Boxing Day (December 26), the Sanjiv Goenka-owned team will send their bowlers to South Africa to train with Durban’s Super Giants, Lucknow’s sister team.

Notably, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also given the Lucknow team permission. Cricbuzz can confirm that pacers like Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, and recently signed Naman Tiwari are on the list of players who will travel to the Rainbow Nation.  

For those who are unaware, the five-time winners Mumbai Indians (MI) sent promising spinner Vignesh Puthur to practice with MI Cape Town last season.

In Durban, the bowlers will be coached by Carl Crowe, Tom Moody, Bharat Arun, and Lance Klusener. In what will be Moody and Bharat’s first time at Super Giants, the latter three are also members of the team’s support staff and can keep an eye on their journey to IPL 2026.  

Lucknow added extra fast bowling talent ahead of IPL 2026, even though the team already had a great depth of pacers from the previous season.

At the IPL 2026 Auction, they acquired another young pacer in Naman Tiwari and exchanged for seasoned pacer Mohammed Shami from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Arjun Tendulkar from MI. LSG also has spinners Shahbaz Ahmed, M Siddharth, and Digvesh Rathi.

How long Avesh, Mohsin, and Naman will remain with the Durban Super Giants is unknown. The first two may be used to compete in the second leg of the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy, which starts on January 22, given their increased fitness. Naman will be asked to return after receiving his first UP call-up.
