In their previous encounter, the Super Kings lost to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by eight wickets. CSK faced a batting collapse in the first innings and could only post 103/9 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Later, KKR chased down the target with ease, finishing the match in 11th over itself. Sunil Narine gave a marvellous show with both ball and bat by picking three wickets and hitting 44 runs.
