Lucknow Super Giants rope in Justin Langer as head coach ahead of IPL 2023

Lucknow Super Giants have released Andy Flower and roped in Justin Langer as the head coach.

The Lucknow Super Giants have announced the appointment of Justin Langer as their new head coach, taking over the reins from Andy Flower. Flower had been serving as the head coach of the Super Giants since the franchise joined the IPL in 2022.

“Lucknow Super Giants are on the journey of building a great story in the IPL. We all have a role to play in that journey and I am excited to be a part of the team moving forward.” Langer said in a statement released by the franchise.

Big Bash Titles and International Achievements

Langer brings a remarkable track record, having successfully guided the Perth Scorchers to three Big Bash League titles. Furthermore, he served as the head coach of the Australian team that emerged victorious in the T20 World Cup held in the UAE in 2021, with Aaron Finch leading the charge.

Langer's wealth of experience also includes guiding Australia to a resounding Ashes victory in 2019, where they defeated England 4-0.

Langer and KL Rahul Targeting Maiden IPL Title for Lucknow Super Giants.

Langer and KL Rahul will be determined to lead the Lucknow Super Giants to their first IPL title. It's important to remember that the team has already reached the IPL playoffs twice before. Another interesting aspect to observe will be the relationship between these two strong-willed former left-handed players. Gautam Gambhir, the mentor of the Lucknow side, is known for his strict approach. Together with Langer, he hopes to guide the team to success in the coming years.

Under the guidance of Andy Flower, who collaborated closely with Gautam Gambhir, the franchise had a successful run, securing playoff berths in both seasons. In their inaugural season in the IPL in 2022, the Lucknow Super Giants finished in third place. In the following IPL season of 2023, they reached the Eliminator stage before being eliminated from the tournament.
