Off-spinner Maheesh Theekshana has become an integral part of CSK franchise.

Chennai Super Kings off-spinner Maheesh Theekshana revealed an interesting chat he had with his captain MS Dhoni, after signing off from the IPL 2023 season. Maheesh may have been a crucial figure for CSK in the spin bowling attack, but he was struggling in the field and dropped many catches in the tournament. Theekshana played 13 games for CSK in the IPL 2023 and picked up 11 wickets. CSK won their fifth Indian Premier League title after beating Gujarat Titans in the final. Theekshana revealed that MS Dhoni funnily reprimanded him for his food fielding.

'No bowling practice for you' Ms Dhoni told Maheesh Theekshana

Maheesh Theekshana, while talking to Revsports, said that when he was signing off from the IPL 2023 and was about to go home, MS Dhoni told him that there would be only batting and fielding practice for him in the next season. Theekshana said, "After the final, when I was about to go home, I just met him, and he told me, because I really don’t do really well on the field, ‘next time for you, there’s no bowling practice, there’s only batting and fielding practice." Theekshana dropped many chances in the entire season, especially in the final.

Praising MS Dhoni, Sri Lankan off-spinner further added that Dhoni is a very simple man, and he really wants everything to be simple. He said, "He is a simple man. He wants everything to be simple. He wants to enjoy every moment. Even when we go out in the middle, he’s a quiet guy who just wants to enjoy the moment. You can go and talk to him for hours if you want. You can have a chat with him; you can eat with him. He’s a very honest man, too. If he wants to say something to your face, he will say it to you. He’s a very humble guy and blessed to play with."

The Sri Lankan off-spinner also revealed that he loves every moment he spends with Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni. Theekshana expressed, "When he is sitting at the back of the seat, I am the one next to him. When we travel on the bus, people want to wave at him. It’s very special. Staying with him is like a proud moment for every one of us in our career." Theekshana will play a key role in Sri Lanka’s campaign in the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup in India. Having been an experienced IPL bowler, Theekshana will be crucial for Sri Lanka in the World Cup.
