Manoj Tiwary played his last international game in 2015 against Zimbabwe in Harare.

Veteran Indian batter Manoj Tiwary has decided to hang up his boots after the game. The 37-year-old announced his retirement from all forms of the game on Thursday (August 3). The former Indian cricketer, who played for West Bengal at the domestic level, is also serving as West Bengal Sports Minister at the moment. Notably, Tiwary played his last game for India in 2015.

It was an ODI game against Zimbabwe in Harare, where he scored 10 runs. However, he was playing for Bengal on the domestic circuit until February 2023. He led his state team to the final of the Ranji Trophy as well. At the domestic level, he has been a consistent player for his team but didn’t get many chances for India. He posted a message on his social media handle to inform about his retirement decision.

Manoj Tiwary is currently serving as Sports Minister for West Bengal

Manoj Tiwary made his debut for India in February 2008 in an ODI game, while his T20I debut came against England at Eden Gardens three years later, in October 2011. He represented India in 12 ODIs and scored 287 runs, with a best of 104 not out. In three T20Is, he scored 15 runs, playing only one innings. In his IPL career, he was part of Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), Kolkata Knight Riders and Rising Pune Supergiants.

In an Instagram post, Tiwary thanked everyone who supported him throughout his career and bid goodbye to the game. He wrote, “Goodbye to the game of cricket. This game has given me everything. I will always be grateful to this game and to God, who has always been by my side throughout.”

Though Tiwary’s international career was not illustrative, he had incredible longevity in his domestic career. He is the leading scorer for his state team in the Ranji Trophy, which is regarded as the toughest domestic first-class cricket championship. During the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he made 366 runs in nine games. Tiwary made his fifth first-class double century in November 2018 and his maiden triple ton in January 2020.
