There have been a few thrilling India vs Bangladesh T20I matches.

The first-ever T20I match between India and Bangladesh took place in the 2009 T20 World Cup in Nottingham. Since then, these two teams have come up against each other several times, with India dominating their head-to-head record by a significant margin.

They have faced each other in the Asia Cups, T20 World Cups, and bilateral series. Though Bangladesh have not had many victories against India, there have been occasions when they came very close to shocking the Men In Blue.

The India vs Bangladesh head-to-head record largely favours India, but there were a few thrillers which could’ve gone Bangladesh’s way as well. Fans have witnessed some memorable T20I contests between the two teams.

In this article, we will talk about the five most memorable moments in the IND vs BAN T20I history.

List of the top five most memorable India vs Bangladesh matches in T20I cricket:

5. 2016 Asia Cup final

The 2016 Asia Cup started with an India vs Bangladesh clash and finished with the final between these two teams. The final was close, and it went down to the wire.

It was a rain-hit game. Bangladesh scored 120/5 in the 15 overs. Chasing the score, India lost Rohit Sharma (1) cheaply. Shikhar Dhawan (60 off 44) and Virat Kohli (41* off 28) added 94 runs in 67 balls.

India lost Dhawan when they needed 22 runs off 14 balls. MS Dhoni came to the crease and slammed a 6-ball 20 to seal the final and the trophy with seven balls to spare.

4. Deepak Chahar- 6/7 in Nagpur, 2019

Deepak Chahar holds the record for the best bowling figures for India in T20Is, and it came against Bangladesh in Nagpur in November 2019. India made 174/5 in the first innings. In the chase, Bangladesh were going well at 110/2 in 12.5 overs.

They needed 65 runs off 43 balls. At that point, Chahar came back with a brilliant spell and took 6/7, including a hat-trick. That turned the game on its head, and Bangladesh got all out for 144. With that win, India clinched the series 2-1.

3. Bangladesh’s only win vs India, 2019

Bangladesh have beaten India in only one T20I so far, which happened at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi in November 2019. They won the game by seven wickets, but the match was a close one and ended in the last over.

Batting first, India made 148/6 in 20 overs. Bangladesh were 99/2 after 15 overs and needed 50 runs off the last five overs. Mushfiqur Rahim held his nerves and scored 60 off 43 to take his team over the line with three balls to spare.

2. 2016 T20 World Cup

Who can forget the sprint by MS Dhoni to run out Mustafizur Rahman on the last ball of the India vs Bangladesh encounter in the 2016 T20 World Cup to lead India to a one-run win?

India made a below-par first-innings score of 146/7. It came down to Bangladesh needing 10 runs off the last over. Mushfiqur Rahim slammed two boundaries to Pandya and Bangladesh needed two runs to win off the last three balls.

But, Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah got out on the next two balls while going for a maximum before Dhoni ran Rahman out on the final ball to take India to a memorable win.

1. Nidahas Trophy Final

There might not be many moments in the India vs Bangladesh T20I rivalry that can top the final of the Nidahas Trophy when Dinesh Karthik stole the win from Bangladesh’s jaws. Chasing 167 runs, India were under pressure at 133/5 in 18 overs.

They needed 34 runs in two overs. Dinesh Karthik came out to bat at No. 7. He hit 6, 4 and 6 on his first three balls and kept India alive. However, Bangladesh pulled things back when Soumya Sarkar conceded eight runs off the first five balls in the last over.

India needed five runs to win off the last delivery. Sarkar bowled a full ball outside the off-stump and Karthik connected it sweetly, sending the ball sailing for a maximum over cover. That shot helped India win the Nidahas Trophy, and that is one of the most iconic moments in Indian cricket. Karthik remained unbeaten on 29 off 8 balls.
