Mickey Arthur blames IPL as a disadvantage for Pakistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

Mickey Arthur comes up with another excuse for Pakistan’s playing poorly in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Despite starting the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 with two consecutive wins, Pakistan found themselves in a must-win situation with semi-finals qualification on the line, and they have to win their remaining two games by big margins. Their next game is against New Zealand on Saturday at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, and the game is underway. Pakistan need to make sure that they win the game by a big margin.

Ahead of the game, Pakistan team director Mickey Arthur came out to address the media and discuss the performance of Pakistan so far. He also spoke about the area where the team are lacking at the moment. However, he made a rather weird statement. When asked about Pakistani players not being able to adapt to the conditions in India, Arthur highlighted that it is mainly because they are not playing in IPL.

Mickey Arthur said that the team is pretty excited to play across different venues in India. He also said that everyone on the team are looking to play at iconic venues like Eden Gardens and Chinnaswamy Stadium. He also added that it takes a bit of time to adjust to the different conditions and venues, which is the biggest challenge. Arthur highlighted that these players have watched such games in IPL only.

Mickey Arthur said, “No excuse, but it has been. And the interesting thing has been that every ground we’ve been to has been a new venue for our players, which is exciting. The players have really embraced that, and they’ve enjoyed that fact because they’ve watched IPL on TV and they’ve seen test matches at iconic grounds like Eden Gardens, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai. So, for them to play it, it’s been really exciting for them.”

South African born also admitted that Pakistan haven’t played as per their full strength, mainly because they couldn’t adjust to the conditions in India. Pakistan will play their two matches against New Zealand and England, and only a win in both games can help them from here on. If they lose any of these games, they will be out of the competition.
