Mitchell Marsh pulls out of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023; Flies back home

Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has flown back to home in middle of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
Australia entered the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as one of the favorites to win the tournament. But they had a poor start and lost the first two matches. But then the five-time champions bounced back pretty well and won their next four games, finishing in third place on the point table. The chances of them making the semis are pretty bright. But Australia suffered a massive blow when star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell suffered a freak injury.
Glenn Maxwell is all set to miss the upcoming clash against England on Saturday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, it looks like Australia have some other big problems to deal with now as Mitchell Marsh has flown back home due to personal reasons. Marsh will miss the ongoing tournament indefinitely.

After Maxwell’s injury, it will be another blow for Australia, as every game from here on is a must-win contest. Mitchell Marsh has flown back home to Perth and will be unavailable for the coming games. It is yet to be clear for how long he will be unavailable or miss the entire tournament from here on. The update came from Cricket Australia (CA) on Thursday.
The CA said, “Mitchell Marsh has returned home from the ICC Men’s World Cup for personal reasons. A timeline for his return to the squad is yet to be confirmed.” The all-rounder has been in great form and has played a vital role in Australia’s recent success.
Marsh has scored 225 runs at an average and strike rate of 37.50 and 91.46, respectively. He has smashed a century and a half-century so far. With the ball, he took 2/19 against Netherlands. It will be a big concern for Australia as two of their key players will not be available for the high-voltage clash against England on Saturday. Maxwell is likely to miss the next game but will be back for the other remaining matches.
