Watch: Mitchell Starc takes a screamer to dismiss Devon Conway in Dharamsala
Mitchell Starc took two wonderful catches to provide Australia early breakthroughs.
New Zealand have lost their openers after a decent start against Australia in Dharamshala. New Zealand are chasing 389 runs to win their fifth league game in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. New Zealand openers Devon Conway and Will Young had a decent start to the chase to put Australians on the back foot. Devon Conway was looking comfortable against Australian pace attack, but a brilliant catch from Mitchell Starc made him walk back to the pavilion.
Devon Conway smashed six boundaries in his stay of 17 balls. Conway added 61 runs for the opening wicket along with Will Young (32). New Zealand needed that kind of start, but when he looked set to go for more boundaries, he played a rash shot to lose his wicket. Mitchell Starc made a wonderful diving catch to dismiss New Zealand opener. Starc was placed at the short fine leg.
Mitchell Starc's screamer ended Conway's stay
Josh Hazlewood delivered a good-length delivery that landed in the middle and leg line to force Conway to play a flick or a nudge towards the fine leg. Conway did have a go and tried to play a pull shot. He did get the timing right, but Starc’s wonderful attempt to dive low to his wrong side proved fatal for Devon Conway. He was disappointed after this dismissal and vented his anger with a loud scream. Conway perished after scoring 28 runs.
