Mithun Manhas succeeds Roger Binny as the BCCI President.
Former Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir cricketer Mithun Manhas has been named as the new Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president in the Annual General Meeting at the board’s headquarters in Mumbai on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
The BCCI has been looking for a new president since Roger Binny stepped down from his position in August 2025, with Rajeev Shukla serving as interim president. Manhas became only the third former cricketer to be elected president, following Sourav Ganguly and Roger Binny.
Mithun Manhas, born on October 12, 1979, in Jammu and Kashmir, has established himself as a regular in Indian domestic cricket. Manhas was a right-handed batsman, offspinner, and occasional wicketkeeper.
With many veteran players away on international duty, Manhas repeatedly captained Delhi, leading the team through key seasons. Notably, he captained Delhi when a young Virat Kohli made his debut, forming a strong bond with the future superstar.
Manhas played 157 first-class matches in his 18-year career, scoring 9,714 runs at an average of just under 46. He scored 27 centuries and 49 fifties, and his finest season was in 2007-08. That year, he led Delhi to a long-awaited Ranji Trophy victory, scoring 921 runs at an impressive 57.56 average and cementing his spot in Indian domestic cricket.
Mithun Manhas’ IPL career included appearances for the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), now-defunct Pune Warriors, and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Prior to becoming BCCI president, he was the Gujarat Titans’ (GT) assistant coach in the IPL.
Salary and Perks Mithun Manhas will get as the BCCI president position

Manhas will not be paid a defined annual or monthly salary by the board because his role as BCCI president is honorary. Instead of a salary, the president is compensated with generous daily allowances and other benefits to meet all official expenses.
However, the remuneration and benefits that the BCCI President is entitled to are comparable to those provided to other senior office bearers, such as the Secretary and Treasurer.
According to the Economic Times, whenever Manhas is required to chair a BCCI or another conference, he will be paid Rs 40,000 per day for domestic meetings and USD 1,000 (about Rs 89,000 per day) for foreign meetings.
Manhas would be paid Rs 30,000 per day for any work-related travel within India. In addition to the allowances, the BCCI president is entitled to business-class travel domestically and first-class/business-class travel internationally. The top boss frequently stays in high-end hotel suites.
