Mohammad Kaif feels Jasprit Bumrah will have problems in playing test cricket ahead.
Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif feels that Jasprit Bumrah will retire from test cricket soon. The right-arm pacer has struggled to perform at his best in the ongoing fourth test between England Cricket Team and Indian Cricket Team at Old Trafford, Manchester.
Bumrah so far picked up only two wickets in the first innings, and what was surprising was that he gave away more than 100 runs, which happened for the first time in his career. He also struggled with his ankle and left the field on day three. However, he later returned, but was low on pace. The right-arm pacer showed a wonderful form in the previous games, picking a five-wicket haul in the first and third tests.
Notably, Bumrah will play only three games out of the five matches in the series to manage his workload. Hence, the senior Indian pacer is not expected to be part of the fifth test match against England at The Oval in London.

Jasprit Bumrah is struggling with his body – Mohammad Kaif
While speaking in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), cricketer-turned-commentator Kaif said that Bumrah is struggling with his body in the Manchester test.
“Jasprit Bumrah, I don’t think you will see him playing in the upcoming test matches. And he might even take retirement. He is struggling with his body. His body has totally given up. His speeds have been on the lower side in the Manchester Test. There is no speed in this Test match,” said Kaif.
“And he is a selfless person. If he feels that he is not able to give 100 per cent for the country, that he is not able to win the match, that he is not getting the wickets, then he himself will refuse. This is my gut feel,” he added.
Kaif also feels that Bumrah will have problems playing test matches ahead. Also, fans should prepare themselves to see the team playing without him.
“There is no doubt about his passion and commitment, but he is losing out on his body. His non-performance in this Test, clearly speaks that he will have problems in playing Test matches ahead and might not even play in Tests,” he said.
“After Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ashwin, the Indian fans have to prepare themselves for playing without Bumrah. I hope my prediction comes out wrong, but what I saw is what I’m speaking of,” Kaif added.
Bumrah has clinched 14 wickets in the ongoing series at an average of 26.00. Meanwhile, England have gained a dominating position in the Manchester test. After being asked to bat first, India piled up 358/10. The hosts then posted 669 in the first innings to take a massive lead of 311 runs.
