[Watch] Mohammad Nabi goes berserk, smashed Dunith Wellalage for 5 sixes in an over in Asia Cup 2025 clash

Mohammad Nabi ended up scoring 60 off 22 against Sri Lanka in a must-win encounter.

Afghanistan and Sri Lanka are taking on each other in group B match of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 on September 18, 2025. This match is being played at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Mohammad Nabi lit up the stadium with a stunning display of power hitting.

Both teams need to win this match to qualify for the Super Four stage, and even Bangladesh will be interested in the outcome of this match.

Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan won the toss and chose to bat first. However, Nuwan Thushara rocked their top order with terrific bowling. He removed Rahmanullah Gurbaz (14), Sediqullah Atal (18), and Karim Janat (1) in quick succession. Ibrahim Zadran made 24 runs to stem the fall of wickets, but Afghanistan found themselves 79/6 in no time.

Rashid Khan scored 24 with two fours and one six to put Afghanistan back in control before Mohammad Nabi gave them a total to defend.

Mohammad Nabi smokes 5 sixes in an over; makes 60 in 22 balls

Veteran Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi warmed up in the 19th over against Dushmantha Chameera. He smashed him for three fours in the first three balls as the over went for 19 runs. But the worst was yet to come for Sri Lanka.

Having exhausted all fast bowlers, Charith Asalanka had to give the final over to Dunith Wellalage, and Nabi pounced on the young spinner. He hit Wellalage for three consecutive sixes on the first three balls of the over.

There was a break as Wellalage bowled a no-ball, but then Nabi hammered the next two balls for sixes as well, effectively hitting five sixes in five balls. He scored 60 runs in 22 balls with 6 sixes and three fours before being run out on the last ball. Afghanistan, thanks to his madness in the last two overs, made 169/8 in 20 overs.
