Mohammad Rizwan took a superb diving catch of Bangladesh opener Zakir Hasan in the 1st PAK vs BAN test match.

Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan is having a game to remember in the first test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.

After scoring 171* in Pakistan’s first innings, which put the hosts in a commanding position, Rizwan took a stunning diving catch of Bangladeshi opener Zakir Hasan to his side their first breakthrough of the innings.

Bangladesh had won the toss and elected to bowl first. Their decision seemed to be vindicated early on as they reduced the hosts to 16/3 and then 114/4. However, after that Saud Shakeel and Rizwan formed a massive 240-run fifth-wicket stand.

Shakeel scored 141 and Rizwan remained unbeaten on 171 when captain Shan Masood declared the innings with 448 runs on the board and only an hour’s play left on day 2.

The Bangladeshi openers Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan survived 12 overs at the end of day 2 but the latter was the first to go in the morning of day 3. Hasan edged a delivery from Naseem Shah, which was plucked spectacularly by Rizwan, who showed his athleticism in taking a jaw-dropping catch with his left hand.

Naseem angled a back-of-length delivery across the stumps and it moved away from the left-handed Hasan. The batsman played a loose shot and outside edged the ball through to the wicket-keeper.

Rizwan observed the trajectory of the ball carefully and made a diving effort while stretching his left hand. He managed to grab the ball with only one hand right in front of the first slip fielder. And despite falling on the ground, Rizwan managed to keep his hold on the ball.
