Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj had a fabulous outing with the ball during first innings of the first test between Indian Cricket Team and West Indies Cricket Team at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. The right-arm pacer clinched a four-wicket haul in first innings on day 1 of the match on Thursday, October 2.
West Indies skipper Roston Chase won the toss and opted to bat first in the encounter. Siraj demolished the opposition batters right from the start, providing his team with the first breakthrough by dismissing Tagenarine Chanderpaul for a duck. In the same session, he bagged two more wickets to put the opposition under massive pressure.
In the second session, he clinched another wicket and helped his side bowl out the visitors for 162 runs in the first innings. Jasprit Bumrah grabbed three wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav scalped two wickets. Washington Sundar got one wicket in his kitty.

By giving way 40 runs and picking four wickets during his 14-over spell in first innings of the Ahmedabad test, Siraj registered his best bowling figures in a test innings at home. He bettered his earlier record of 4/84 during a clash against England last year. This is also Siraj’s second four-wicket haul at home.

Meanwhile, West Indies’ decision to bat first backfired as they could not hold ground against Indian bowlers. Openers John Campbell (8) and Chanderpaul (0) lost their wickets cheaply. Roston Chase (24), Shai Hope (26), and Justin Greaves (32) were the top run-scorers for the side as none of their batters managed to reach a fifty.
