Mohammed Siraj is the leading wicket-taker in the ENG vs IND test series.

Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has shown an incredible level of fitness in the ongoing five-match test series between England and India. The right-arm pacer has been part of all five games and has managed to come up with a brilliant bowling show consistently.

Mohammed Siraj is the leading wicket-taker in the series with 18 wickets, with one more innings to go. In first innings of the ongoing fifth test at The Oval, he clinched a four-wicket haul. He along with Prasidh Krishna, who also took four wickets, dismantled England’s batting lineup, ending their innings at 247.

Notably, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah was rested for the fifth test to manage his workload. He played three games in the series. Also, pacer Akash Deep suffered a groin injury and was not part of the fourth test. But Siraj was a workhorse for his team and kept his fitness right on the money, playing all five games.

While speaking to cricketer-turned-commentator Dinesh Karthik on Sky Sports, Siraj revealed his secret for being able to play all five matches in the ongoing series. He said that he loves to play for the country and does not worry about his workload.

“I love to play for the country. To be honest, I am not thinking about whether I will break down or not. In my mind, the plan is simple – give everything and rest will follow,” he said.

Notably, some England pacers like Jofra Archer and Brydon Carse were left out for the fifth test at The Oval. Ben Stokes was ruled out of the match due to a shoulder injury. Moreover, Chris Woakes suffered a shoulder injury while fielding and has been ruled out of the fifth test.

Meanwhile, England skipper Ollie Pope won the toss and opted to field first in the Oval test. India posted 224/10 in the first innings with a fifty by Karun Nair (57). England were bowled out for 247/10, earning a 23-run lead. In the first session on day 3, India crossed a 100-run lead on the board and are in a commanding position.
