Mohammed Siraj picked four wickets in the third BGT 2024-25 test at the Gabba.

India have continued to build on the momentum they gained on Day 4 of the third test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at the Gabba.

After being in a precarious position at 74/5, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, along with crucial lower-order efforts from Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep, helped India avoid the follow-on. The Indian bowlers then came out on day 5 with all guns blazing and reduced Australia to 33/5 in their second innings.

Bumrah started the proceedings for the visitors by dismissing Usman Khawaja for eight runs. Marnus Labuschagne followed, falling to Akash Deep. In search of quick runs, the hosts promoted Travis Head above Steve Smith to No. 4, with Smith coming out to bat at No. 6 after Mitchell Marsh’s dismissal.

Smith started in an aggressive tone, coming down the wicket and hitting a lofted straight drive to Mohammed Siraj on only the fourth ball of his innings.

Smith’s aggression was short-lived as Siraj dismissed him on the next ball. The 35-year-old attempted a glance down the leg side but only managed to make faint contact. Rishabh Pant completed an excellent catch to send Smith back to the dressing room.

Siraj roared in celebration as he had his revenge on Smith after being whacked for a boundary.
