Former Indian seamer Mohit Sharma retires from all forms of cricket

Former India fast bowler Mohit Sharma has put an end to his cricketing career. Announcing his retirement on his social media handle, he said, “Today with a full heart, I announce my retirement from all formats of cricket.”
Mohit Sharma was last seen in action in the 2025 IPL season, where he played for Delhi Capitals (DC). The 37-year-old had disappeared from the scene but made his comeback for the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 2023 season when he impressed Ashish Nehra as a net bowler. He ended up taking 27 wickets in that season and played an important role in guidings GT to the final.
In international cricket, Mohit represented India in 26 ODIs and 8 T20Is. He was also a part of the 2015 ICC ODI World Cup, where India qualified for the semi-finals.

Reminiscing about his long career, Mohit Sharma wrote in his post, “From representing Haryana to wearing the india jersey and playing in the IPL, this journey has been nothing short of blessing.”
He also expressed his gratitude to the Haryana Cricket Association for grooming him as a bowler. “A very special Thanku to the Haryana Cricket Association for being the backbone of my career. And my deepest gratitude to Anirudh Sir, who’s constant guidance and belief in me shaped my path in ways words cannot express,” read Sharma’s post.

In an emotional message, the Haryana pacer acknowledged all those, including the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), IPL franchises, and his teammates, who have held his hand and supported him on his journey.
“Thanku to the Bcci, my coaches, my teammates, ipl franchises, support staff and all my friends for their love and support. Special thanks to my wife who always handled my mood swings and anger, and supported me through everything.”
In his concluding remarks, he also hinted at his future beyond cricket, which will revolve around the game only. “I look forward to serving the game in fresh ways. Thanku so much. Innings over gratitude forever,” he concluded.
