Mohsin Naqvi said he has done nothing wrong and will never apologise to BCCI.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi has rebuffed reports of apologising to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the Asia Cup 2025 trophy row. He also reckoned that he has done nothing wrong and would never apologise to Indian body in the matter.

Indian Cricket Team crushed Pakistan Cricket Team by five wickets in Asia Cup 2025 final on Sunday, September 28 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. After the victory, Suryakumar Yadav & Co. refused to receive the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi. This didn’t go well with the PCB chairman as he took the trophy and medals away with him.

India celebrated their victory at the podium without the trophy. Later, BCCI issued a strong statement over the matter and asked the ACC chairman to hand over the trophy and medals to India.

Some media reports claimed that Naqvi apologised to BCCI over the matter during the ACC meeting on September 30. However, Naqvi refused such claims, saying that he has done nothing wrong and will never apologise to BCCI.

“Indian media thrives on lies, not facts. Let me make it absolutely clear. I have done nothing wrong and I have never apologised to the BCCI nor will I ever do so,” he wrote on X (formerly X).

“This fabricated nonsense is nothing but cheap propaganda, aimed only at misleading their own people. Unfortunately, India continues to drag politics into cricket, damaging the very spirit of the game,” he added.

Naqvi also added that BCCI can collect the trophy and medals from the ACC office in Dubai.

“As ACC President, I was ready to hand over the trophy that very day and I am still ready now. If they truly want it, they are welcome to come to the ACC office and collect it from me,” he added.

After the incident, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia revealed that the Indian team didn’t want to receive the trophy from Naqvi, who is also a minister in the Pakistan government. However, his action of not handing over the silverware was ‘extremely unfortunate and unsportsmanlike’, and he should return the trophy as per the protocols.

Meanwhile, BCCI reportedly has rejected Naqvi’s demand to collect the trophy from the ACC office and demanded that the silverware and medals be returned as per ACC protocols.
