Nitish Kumar Reddy missed the first three games of the IND vs AUS T20Is due to an injury.

Team India have shown trust in promising all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, which is why he was one of the few players to feature in ODIs and T20Is on the ongoing Australia tour. However, after suffering an injury during the ODI series, he has missed out on half of the games of the ongoing tour.

He suffered an injury in the second ODI against Australia at the Adelaide Oval and later was ruled out of the first three games of the T20I series due to a quad injury. As a result, India had to go with an extra batter in the three games, which has somehow disrupted the balance of the team.

The all-rounder is expected to get fit ahead of the fourth T20I, but the final call is yet to be taken as said by India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel in the pre-match conference.

IND vs AUS: Nitish Kumar Reddy fit to play? Morne Morkel gives a fitness update ahead of the 4th T20I

Ahead of the start of the T20I series, the BCCI confirmed Nitish’s unavailability due to quadriceps injury.

In a statement released, the BCCI said, “Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out for the first three T20Is. The all-rounder, who was recovering from his left quadriceps injury sustained during the second ODI in Adelaide, complained of neck spasms, which has impacted his recovery and mobility.”

India will take on Australia in the fourth test on November 6 at the Carrara Oval, Queensland. Prior to the game, Nitish was seen doing batting and bowling practice and completing his fielding drills. It is a good indication for India ahead of the fourth game. However, Morkel had not confirmed his availability.

On Wednesday, the bowling coach said, “Yeah, he did all his work that was needed or expected of him today, fielding, batting, bowling. And he picked all of that. So, we’ll find out now after the assessment where he is at.”

Nitish’s availability can be a massive boost for India, who are aiming to win the next two games. In the absence of Hardik Pandya, he will give India a good balance, which India have been missing. India tried Shivam Dube in the third game, but he was very expensive, which is why Nitish could come in handy for India.

What is Nitish Kumar Reddy’s record in T20I cricket?

Nitish Kumar Reddy has so far played four T20Is, in which, he has scored 90 runs and took three wickets.

Will Nitish Kumar Reddy play last two T20Is against Australia?

According to India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel, Nitish Kumar Reddy has cleared all the drills, but final decision on his participation in the last two T20Is will be taken before the fourth T20I.
