There are only two Sri Lankan batters featuring in the list of the most runs in Sri Lanka vs New Zealand tests.
Sri Lanka and New Zealand played their first-ever test series in 1983 in New Zealand. The two-match test series was won by the hosts.
Including their maiden series, both nations have competed in 38 test series. Out of these, New Zealand have clinched 18 series, whereas Sri Lanka have won nine. 11 test series between them have been drawn.
Over the years, both nations have produced several legendary batters who have impacted their country’s cricket significantly. These batters have left a significant mark in the NZ vs SL tests.

5. Angelo Mathews (SL) – 1004 runs
Veteran all-rounder Angelo Mathews has played 13 tests against the New Zealand cricket team till now. The right-handed batter has amassed 1004 runs at an admirable average of 50.20, including two centuries and seven half-centuries.
Mathews is ranked fifth in the list of the most runs in the NZ vs SL test matches.
4. Mahela Jayawardene (SL) – 1028 runs
Mahela Jayawardene is recognized as one of the greatest cricketers in Sri Lanka’s cricketing history. The great batter had a decent amount of success against New Zealand in the longest format.
In 13 tests against the Black Caps, Jayawardene amassed 1028 runs at an outstanding average of 48.95. In these games, the right-handed batter notched up three centuries and six fifties. Jayawardene is placed fourth on this list.
3. Tom Latham (NZ) – 1039 runs
New Zealand’s Tom Latham is the third-highest run scorer in the Sri Lanka vs New Zealand tests so far. The left-handed batter has played 10 tests against the Island Nation, in which he made 1039 runs at an astounding average of 69.26, including four centuries and one half-century.
2. Stephen Fleming (NZ) – 1166 runs
Former Kiwi captain and opener Stephen Fleming played 13 tests against the Sri Lankan cricket team. In those tests, the left-handed batter scored 1166 at a brilliant average of 58.30. Fleming made two centuries and seven half-centuries against Sri Lanka.
He is the second-highest run-scorer in the Sri Lanka vs New Zealand test matches.
1. Kane Williamson (NZ) – 1329 runs
Modern-day giant Kane Williamson is the highest run-getter in the New Zealand vs Sri Lanka tests till now. Williamson has made 1329 runs in 12 matches against the Island Nation at a stunning average of 78.17, with the help of five centuries and five half-centuries.
