India have won the most Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series is one of the most intense rivalries in test cricket between two cricketing powerhouses: India and Australia.

In the 21st century, it has grown at par with the levels of the historic Ashes rivalry that is between Australia and England in terms of intensity, hype, and competitiveness on the field.

India and Australia first played test cricket against each other in 1947. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy came into existence in 1996, honoring two of the greatest captains and batsmen of their respective countries: Australia’s Allan Border and India’s Sunil Gavaskar.

India and Australia meet around every two years mostly alternating between home and away in a test series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

While Australia hold a dominant record over India in test cricket, with 45 wins and 32 losses, India have won more BGT test matches and test series.

In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy history, India won 24 tests, Australia won 20 matches and 12 tests were drawn. India are way ahead in terms of series wins in BGT: India have won 10 BGT series, Australia won five, and one was drawn.

Both teams have been filled with match-winners who have stepped up to lead their side to a series win over their rival by producing match-winning and series-winning performances.

Who has won the most Man of the Series (MotS) award in Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT)?

India’s Sachin Tendulkar won the most (3) Man of the Series awards in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT). Tendulkar bagged the MotS awards against Australia in 1996, 1999-2000 and 2010 series.
