MS Dhoni's childhood friend Paramjit Singh opens up on CSK captain's IPL Future

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is approaching, every cricket fan is making speculations on whether Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni will play his last season or if he will be seen in the next edition of the prestigious league. Ahead of the much-awaited IPL 2024 season, MS Dhoni’s childhood friend Paramjit Singh, who is the owner of Prime Sports, opened up about the CSK captain’s IPL future.
Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has been one of the crucial players for CSK since the team’s introduction in the inaugural season of the IPL in 2008. MS Dhoni has led CSK from the front, and Dhoni has won a record five IPL trophies (2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023) with CSK till now. Apart from leading CSK to titles in the IPL, MS Dhoni-led CSK also won two Champions Trophy T20 titles in 2010 and 2014.
In the IPL 2023 edition, MS Dhoni-led CSK defeated the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the grand finale, which was held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The 42-year-old MS Dhoni was seen having trouble with his left knee, and after the conclusion of the IPL 2023 tournament, the CSK captain underwent knee surgery.
Paramjit Singh clears air about CSK captain MS Dhoni’s IPL future
In an interview with OneCricket, MS Dhoni’s childhood friend Paramjit Singh, who is also the owner of Prime Sports, revealed that Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni might play one or two IPL seasons, and his 2024 edition will not be his last IPL tournament. Paramjit also added that Dhoni is very fit and can easily play for CSK.
“I do not think this will be his (Dhoni’s) last season. He is still fit. I think he will play one or two more seasons. He will definitely play one more season. The reason is he is fit,” said Paramjit Singh.
On Thursday, 22nd February, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule for first phase of the IPL 2024. It is to be noted that schedule for remainder of the tournament will be announced later. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opening game of the season at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on March 22.
In the first phase of the IPL 2024 tournament, MS Dhoni-led CSK will play a total of four matches. The MS five-time champions CSK, will play two home games in Chennai and two away matches in Vizag and Hyderabad.
