MS Dhoni is the only Indian captain to win all three-limited overs ICC trophies till now.

MS Dhoni’s cricketing journey started in Ranchi, India. Initially excelling in football, Dhoni was spotted by a coach who recognized his talent behind the wicket. From there, MS Dhoni rose through the ranks of domestic cricket. The legendary cricketer also impressed with his powerful batting and unorthodox wicket-keeping skills.

In 2007, a young Dhoni led a relatively inexperienced Indian team to victory in the inaugural ICC World T20 Cup. Then, in 2011, amidst immense pressure, the legendary Indian skipper MS Dhoni led India to a historic ODI World Cup victory on home soil.

Finally in 2013, Dhoni became the first and only captain in Indian cricket history to win all three major ICC limited-overs trophies by guiding India to victory in the ICC Champions Trophy in England. After having a successful career both as skipper and player for India, MS Dhoni retired from international cricket in August 2020.

He is the god: Former Indian cricketer on legendary captain MS Dhoni

Former Indian cricketer Saurabh Tiwary commented on legendary Indian cricketer MS Dhoni where he said the Ranchi-born-cricketer has put Jharkhand’s name on the cricketing maps of India. Tiwary, who was often known as the next MS Dhoni, lavished praise on the former Indian cricketer and said Dhoni is the god of Jharkhand cricket.

“MS Dhoni is the God of Jharkhand cricket. Ever since he started playing for India, people started knowing us as a team. They came to know where Jharkhand is. MS Dhoni gave us confidence and whenever he is around or in the town, he comes to attend our practice sessions. Sometimes, he takes part in the warm-up games also. His support is everything for us,” Saurabh Tiwary told Sports Now.

The left-handed batter Saurabh Tiwary recently announced his retirement from professional cricket and played his last Ranji Trophy game for Jharkhand against Rajasthan in Jamshedpur. Tiwary was often known as the next Dhoni because of his hairstyle. Tiwary used to have a long-haired look just like Dhoni, who also had long hair early in his career.

“Dhoni bhaiya gives a lot of freedom when he is leading the team. He will stand by you even if you are not performing. Apart from leading the team, when Dhoni bhaiya is standing behind the wicket, he helps bowlers a lot. He would tell you how the wicket is responding and also he will help you with accurate field placements,” he added.

Saurabh Tiwary also opened up that former Indian captain MS Dhoni always supported the players who are not performing. Tiwary also added apart from taking support, Dhoni also gave numerous chances to the players.

“He will stand by you even if you are not performing. He gives a lot of chances to the players. Apart from leading the team, when Dhoni Bhaiya is standing behind the wicket, he helps the bowlers a lot. He would tell you how the wicket is responding and also he will help you with accurate field placements,” Saurabh Tiwary added.

MS Dhoni will be next seen in the action in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 captaining Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
