MS Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2020.

Former Indian captain MS Dhoni is known for his simplicity and humble nature. Regarded as “Captain Cool,” Dhoni is rarely seen boasting about his achievements or being vocal on social media.

Dhoni ended his legendary international career in 2020. He captained India in 60 test matches and led the team to the number one spot in the ICC Test Team Rankings. He remains the only captain in history to have won all three ICC limited-overs titles – the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy.

Dhoni’s limited presence on social media has often been discussed by former players, with some suggesting that he uses his mobile phone only for calls. The former India batsman last posted on Instagram in July 2024 and has remained inactive since then.

The 43-year-old legend has now shared his views on why he stays away from social media and public relations activities.

Speaking in Eurogrip Tred Talks, the former Indian captain emphasized that a player doesn’t need PR if the player plays good cricket. Dhoni also mentioned that many managers had advised him to be active on social media, but he had declined their requests.

Dhoni said, “I have never been a big fan of social media. Throughout, I have had so many managers and all of them keep pushing. I started playing in 2004; Twitter got popular later on, after which Instagram came in.

All the managers told me, ‘you should do some PR, build this and build that’. I had the same answer that if you play good cricket, you don’t need PR,

MS Dhoni is set to play his 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025. The former Indian wicket-keeper will represent Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as an uncapped player this time.
