The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 has almost reached its climax but MS Dhoni has still not played a single game for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The wicket-keeper batsman sustained a calf injury just ahead of the start of the tournament, which made him unavailable in the initial games.
Even after recovering from his injury, Dhoni has not featured in any games for CSK. He took part in the team’s practice sessions but stayed away from the XI.
While some reports claimed that Dhoni is still working on his fitness, others alleged that he did not want to disturb the team combination. Now, a fresh set of reports have claimed that all is not well between Dhoni and the CSK management.

According to a report by Cricblogger, Dhoni is likely to part ways with the franchise after IPL 2026.
“The relationship between Dhoni and CSK has deteriorated to such an extent that Thala will not be seen in yellow after the 2026 IPL,” a source said.
The report also added that the management has not consulted him on major decisions over the last two years.
An earlier report claimed that the former CSK captain was extremely upset with the transfer involving Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson, which was executed without his knowledge. Also, CSK management has decided to move on from senior players to develop a team for the future.
The sources also added that CSK management cannot repair their relationship with Dhoni as no one is willing to have a direct conversation with him. Also, he has stayed with the franchise throughout the season just for the sake of dignity.
The sources also added that Dhoni is having differences with one of the CSK’s top officials. Hence, IPL 2026 might be the last season for him in the CSK jersey. Whether he will retire from the tournament is a different topic.
