MS Dhoni became the second captain to win five IPL trophies in IPL 2023.

MS Dhoni, captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has provided an update on his knee injury sustained during the IPL 2023 season. Dhoni underwent surgery in Mumbai shortly after the IPL 2023 concluded, with CSK earning their fifth title.

He has been recovering at Ranchi's JSCA stadium facilities since then. Dhoni had thanked the CSK fans for their love and adulation after CSK won the IPL 2023 title. He talked about his retirement plans and while he said this would be the best time to retire; Dhoni said he’ll love to play one more season.

He had mentioned earlier, "Circumstantially, it's the best time to announce retirement. The easy thing for me is to say thank you and retire. But the amount of love I have received from CSK fans, it would be a gift for them to (see me) play one more season.”

MS Dhoni equaled Rohit Sharma’s record of five IPL title wins as captain in the Indian Premier League history.

"Knee has survived the operation”- MS Dhoni

The 42-year-old India star said at an event in Bengaluru on Thursday that his knee surgery was successful and that he is making good progress without issues. Medical professionals have assured him that he will be much better by November. Dhoni is presently receiving physical therapy to regain his fitness.

When an interviewer mentioned MS Dhoni's retirement from cricket at the event, another panelist promptly corrected it, stating that it was from international cricket. Dhoni smiled and agreed with the modification, prompting the audience to applaud.

The interviewer started asking his question with: "Now that you have retired from cricket..", To this the other panelist interrupted, saying: "From international cricket...". And Dhoni immediately agreed with the interruption.

Updating about his rehabilitation, Dhoni said, "Knee has survived the operation, going through the rehab phase. The doctor told me you would feel much better by November. But no problem in day-to-day routine."

Dhoni underlined that his ultimate goal was to be remembered as a good human being, not just a great cricketer.

He stated, "You know, right from the start, I was not into that people should remember me as a good cricketer. I always said, you know, I want to be remembered as a good human being. You know, and if you want to be a good human being, it's a process till you die."
