MS Dhoni has missed the first three games of the IPL 2026 due to a calf strain.
It has been a nightmare of the start for the five-time champion, Chennai Super Kings, in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. They finished the last edition at the bottom and are still at the bottom of the ongoing season. Under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK have looked pretty ordinary on the field.
The poor form and injuries have not helped them much. Star batter Dewald Brevis is not fit, and so is the former captain MS Dhoni, who holds the key in terms of leadership. Dhoni’s absence has certainly hurt the combination of CSK in the middle order.
Hence, they are trying some young players, which has not worked for them. Hence, not just the fans but the CSK management is also praying for the return of MS Dhoni, which can strengthen the team’s combination and also add experience into the playing XI.
MS Dhoni to make his return against Delhi Capitals if he passes fitness test

MS Dhoni‘s injury came as a big blow to the team because he has been the key figure in the CSK setup. He suffered a calf strain during the preseason camp, which kept him out of the action for the initial matches. There were several media reports that he would be playing for two weeks.
However, there has been massive news coming. According to Indian Express, Dhoni is all set to undergo a fitness test in the coming days. If he passes the test, he might feature in the playing XI for CSK’s next encounter.
The five-time champion is scheduled to face Delhi Capitals next in Chennai. That game will be played on April 11 (Saturday) at Chepauk Stadium. CSK lost to RCB on Sunday, and they will have a five-day break between the two games.
Hence, there are high hopes that if Dhoni passes the test, he can feature for CSK in the next game. That will be massive for the confidence of the team, which is looking shaken. Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been struggling.
Ayush Mhatre has played one good knock but got out cheaply in the other two. Only Sarfaraz Khan has looked consistent. Shivam Dube has also struggled. Hence, Dhoni’s return does not just add experience, but his presence on the field can help Gaikwad use his resources pretty well.
