Revealed: MS Dhoni's first pic after knee surgery

MS Dhoni was troubled in IPL 2023 due to a knee injury.

Former India captain and IPL 2023-winning Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni had come to Mumbai after the T20 extravaganza ended, as he decided to check into the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai to have his troublesome knee checked out.

The cricketer traveled to Mumbai on Wednesday to consult Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, and the latter advised him to undergo surgery.

“We don’t know the details, but Dhoni underwent surgery on his knee this morning. We were informed that the surgery was successful and he is recovering,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told Sportstar.

It was also reported that the 41-year-old cricketer was released in the evening after the surgery and observation, and he left for Ranchi with his wife Sakshi.

While Dhoni looked perfectly fine while keeping wicket, he occasionally came into bat as low as No. 8 and didn’t appear to be in his element while racing between the wickets. This was even though he had worn heavy strapping on his left knee during the whole season.

Dhoni participated in the IPL despite having a problematic knee, and the CSK franchise sent Dr. Madhu Thottapil to monitor the procedure when he traveled to Mumbai. Sources with knowledge of the development have revealed that Dhoni underwent arthroscopic surgery, also referred to as keyhole surgery.

Dhoni, too, didn’t waste any time and underwent arthroscopic repair on his left knee, which had troubled him throughout the IPL. It was done so that he gets enough time to start the rehabilitation process.

“He wanted to have it done before he goes to Ranchi, where he will take a rest. It has been a long season for him, and he wanted to get this out of the way,” a CSK source told TOI.

It is believed that MS Dhoni will require three to four months of recovery time before beginning his preparation for the upcoming season.
