Former India selector MSK Prasad names his India squad for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Includes Ravi Ashwin

MSK Prasad has included Ravi Ashwin in his 15-member squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Team India will be in action in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, with top Asian teams participating in the tournament. India will be playing Pakistan in their opening match on September 2 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. This will be a great opportunity for the team to prepare for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup in 2023. The 17-member squad that will feature in the Asia Cup is likely to be the same for the coming World Cup, with minimal changes.

Thus, it is pretty clear that the same bunch of players will also play in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 in India. A number of big names like Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Ashwin, Arshdeep Singh, and others were sidelined from the Asia Cup squad. So will they get a chance to play in the World Cup? MSK Prasad revels his preferred Indian squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will be hosted by India across ten venues. The tournament will start on October 5 with a match between England and New Zealand. India will play against Australia on October 8 in Chennai in their first game. Being the hosts, all eyes will be on how India perform. They are the favourites and have a great chance to end the ICC trophy drought.

Considering that, Prasad names his preferred World Cup squad for India and has included Ravichandran Ashwin in his team. In a discussion on Star Sports, Prasad included Ashwin in his team. Apart from that, he didn’t pick Sanju Samson and picked Ishan Kishan as a backup keeper for KL Rahul. He has also kept Suryakumar Yadav in the team.

For the spin department, he has picked Ashwin, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Chahal, and Kuldeep Yadav. For the pace department, he has picked Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Hardik as an all-rounder. Surprisingly, there is no Shardul Thakur or Prasidh Krishna in the team. The batting order is similar to the squad for the Asia Cup 2023.
