Mukesh Kumar played a crucial role in India’s final ODI win against West Indies.

The ongoing West Indies has been memorable for the man from Gopalganj, Bihar. Mukesh Kumar has made his debut in all three formats for India in a span of just 14 days. Team India have awarded Mukesh Kumar T20I cap number 103 as a player as he made his debut against West Indies at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Torouba. Mukesh is only the second Indian cricketer to make debut in all three formats in just one tour. Before him, T Natarajan became the first cricketer to make a debut in all three formats in just one tour.

Special record for Mukesh and Natarajan

T. Natarajan made his ODI, T20I, and Test debut against Australia in India’s tour of Australia in 2020-21. Natarajan couldn’t prolong his stay on the team as he suffered injuries after making his international debut.

Mukesh Kumar made his test debut against West Indies in the 2nd test at Queens Park Oval on 20th July, his ODI debut in the first match on 27th July, and his T20I debut came at Brian Lara Cricket Academy on 3rd August. Natarajan first made his debut in ODIs against Australia, then in T20Is, and then in tests in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Mukesh Kumar has been impressive with his bowling on the Caribbean tour. Mukesh is consistently part of the Indian XI since he made his debut in the test. He took 2 wickets in the test and then 4 wickets in the ODI series. Mukesh rattled the West Indies top-order with his controlled bowling in the final ODI at Brian Lara Cricket Academy. He has been rewarded for his consistent performance in the Indian domestic circuit for Bengal. He played a crucial role in Bengal’s campaign becoming runners-up in the last season of Ranji Trophy.

Talking about the match, West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first against India in the first T20I. Along with Mukesh Kumar, India have also handed Tilak Verma his international debut. Tilak Verma will be wearing the Indian blue jersey for the first time in his career. Tilak has been a consistent performer for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. West Indies are going strong against India and looking set to post a challenging total. Tilak and Mukesh both have a big role in their hand as Team India explore options for the next T20 World Cup in West Indies.
