Watch: Mukesh Kumar dismisses Alick Athanaze to claim his maiden ODI wicket

Mukesh Kumar is 251st player to represent Indian Cricket Team in One-day internationals.

Mukesh Kumar has once again roared for team India as he made his much-awaited ODI debut at Kensington Oval in Barbados. Mukesh Kumar was given an ODI cap as Mohammed Siraj flew back home due to sore ankle he carried in the second test. Mukesh has once again impressed everyone with his control and got his maiden ODI wicket.

He also made his debut in the test format at Queen Park Oval and picked up 2 wickets in the game. Mukesh Kumar became the 251st ODI player for India and was given his ODI cap by all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. It was a moment to rejoice for Mukesh as he walked out wearing the Blue jersey and represented Team India in ODIs.

Mukesh Kumar's maiden ODI wicket

Playing his first-ever ODI, Mukesh Kumar came in sharing the new ball with all-rounder Hardik Pandya. The Windies batter looked to be struggling against the Indian pace attack. Mukesh in his 4th Over got his first ever ODI wicket as he got Alick Athanaze caught in the points.

Athanaze was trying to play an aggressive cut shot against one of Mukesh Kumar’s full-length deliveries. He couldn’t connect it perfectly and went straight to points where Ravindra Jadeja was agile enough to pull a great catch jumping in the air. Athanaze was back in the pavilion on just 22 giving India their second breakthrough.

Mukesh Kumar has become a key player in the Indian bowling attack as the absence of senior players felt in the dressing room. Mukesh Kumar earned praise from several former cricketers for his control of the line and length. West Indies are struggling against the Indian bowling attack and have lost 7 wickets under the score of 100. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has rattled the Windies batters and got big wickets in the middle order. Coming back after two years in ODI cricket, Shimron Hetmyer also lost his wicket to Jadeja. Hetmyer was castled by Jadeja on just 11 runs.
