Musheer Khan was recently part of the Indiaā€™s U19 World Cup 2024 squad.

Musheer Khan became the youngest Mumbai batter to score a century in a Ranji Trophy final on Tuesday, as the 41-time winners tightened their grip on Vidarbha in their bid for a record-extending 42nd trophy.

Musheer, who began on his overnight score of 51, completed his second First-Class (FC) century, following his maiden double century against Baroda in the quarter-finals. When play resumed on Day 3, Musheer resumed batting alongside captain Ajinkya Rahane, and the two continued to score runs.

Already leading by 119 runs at stumps on Day 2 from 141/2, Mumbai had advanced to 164 when their captain was out for 73, but Musheer thrived in the company of Shreyas Iyer.

Meanwhile, Musheer, the younger brother of India test cricketer Sarfaraz Khan, at the age of 19 years and 14 days, scored a brilliant century in the ongoing final of the Ranji Trophy 2023-24. He achieved the feat with a clip of his pads.

Before their partnership ended, Musheer and Iyer had scored 168 off 256 balls. Five short of 95, Iyer attempted to clear the boundary off Aditya Thakare but misjudged the timing and holed out at long-off.

Musheer with his century, broke Sachin Tendulkarā€™s record of being the youngest Mumbai batter to score a century in a Ranji Trophy final.

Tendulkar was just a month shy of his 22nd birthday when in the final of the 1994/95 season, the Little Master had peeled off twin centuries against Punjab and became the youngest Mumbaikar to the landmark. His record stood tall for nearly three decades before Musheer bettered it.

Musheer Khan broke the record in front of the legend himself, as Tendulkar was sitting in the Wankhede stands to watch the final of the Ranji Trophy.
