Mushfiqur Rahim to miss IND vs BAN Super Four clash of Asia Cup 2023

Mushfiqur Rahim had returned to Bangladesh after their last Super Four clash due to birth of his child.
Bangladesh wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim will miss out on India's encounter on September 15 in Colombo. Bangladesh are almost knocked out of Asia 2023, but they will play their only remaining game in Colombo against India in the super 4 round. BCB officials have told the media that Mushfiqur Rahim is exempt from the participation against India as he is currently in Dhaka with his wife as the couple are expecting a new member in their family. He was expected to join the Bangladesh camp on Wednesday.
Mushfiqur to stay in Dhaka
Bangladesh Cricket Board Cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus was quoted in a media release as saying, "Mushfiqur has informed us that his wife is still recovering, and he needs to be by her side and with their children at this time. We fully understand his situation and have decided to permit him to skip the next game." Mushfiqur Rahim will stay back in Dhaka to accompany his wife and his family and miss their final game against Bangladesh on September 15. He was part of the playing XI in all Bangladesh games in the tournament.
Along with wicket-keeper Mushfqur Rahim, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan also came back to Dhaka as coach Chandika Hathurusingha asked players to have a three-day leave before the final game against India. Shakib Al Hasan will be joining Bangladesh squad on Wednesday, and the team will begin their preparation. Shakib Al Hasan was expected to join the event in Dhaka with French President Emanuel Macron. The rest of the squad remained in Colombo and had a three-day break to reflect on their campaign.
Bangladesh suffered defeats against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the super 4 round and have almost zero chances to qualify for the finals and take on India. They had a disappointing run in the tournament, with only one win against Afghanistan out of the four games they played so far. Bangladesh will be hosting a three-match one-day international series against New Zealand before their World Cup 2023 campaign begins in India. The series will begin on September 21.
