Mustafizur Rahman was the only Bangladesh player sold in the IPL 2026 mini-auction.

Mustafizur Rahman, a pacer from Bangladesh, has been in the spotlight lately due to his exclusion from the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2026). The player was excluded from the upcoming edition under BCCI directives, even though Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought him for INR 9.20 crores in the mini auction.

This was due to strong opposition by political leaders and the general public in view of the recent ongoing atrocities against the minority Hindu people in Bangladesh by extremists. BCCI and KKR were urged to take action on this issue, and as a result, the Indian board directed the franchise to release the Bangladesh pacer.

The Bangladeshi government and Bangladesh Cricket Board have taken retaliatory actions against the BCCI’s actions.

BCB has written to ICC, stating that the Bangladesh team will not travel to India for the T20 World Cup 2026, citing security concerns. On the other hand, the government has banned the broadcast of IPL in the country until further notice.

However, Mustafizur Rahman has moved on from the controversy and joined the Pakistan Super League. PSL 11 will clash with the IPL 2026 this year as well, and will conduct the player draft in the coming few days.

The league announced Mustafizur’s inclusion in the PSL 2026 draft by posting a banner featuring the left-arm pacer on its official social media accounts.

“Batter’s better shake carefully… It’s going to Fizz in the #NewEra. Mustafizur Rahman joins HBL PSL 11!” PSL shared on its socials.

The PSL, Pakistan’s T20 franchise league, will start on March 26 and end on May 3. In 2018, Mustafizur participated in the PSL with the Lahore Qalandars, getting four wickets in five games. He is scheduled to return to the PSL this season after a seven-year hiatus.

Although Mustafizur’s team has not yet been determined, he will likely be selected in the players’ draft. The date of the draft has not been decided yet. This will be the PSL’s eleventh and largest edition, with eight teams for the first time.

Has Mustafizur Rahman played in the Pakistan Super League before?

Yes, Mustafizur Rahman was part of the Lahore Qalandars in the PSL 2017/18 season and picked up four wickets for the team.

How many teams are participating in PSL 2026?

The PSL 11 edition will feature eight teams for the first time, making it the biggest edition of the Pakistani T20 league.
