N Srinivasan’s India Cements had owned the CSK franchise in IPL, before they were taken over by Ultratech cements.
Former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chairman N Srinivasan, who had previously owned the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has once again stepped into the cricket administration. Srinivasan has reportedly now taken over as CSK chairman ahead of the IPL 2026 tournament.
Given that they have won the franchise championship five times in the league’s existence, the CSK are without a doubt one of the most significant teams in Indian Premier League history.
However, the management of CSK has a contentious past; they have been connected to match-fixers, or cricket bookies, and have been accused of having conflicts of interest. As a result, CSK was suspended from the IPL for two years, from 2016 to 2017.
N Srinivasan becomes chairman of Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited

Srinivasan has returned to his position as chairman of the franchise’s owner, Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL).
According to The Hindu Business reports, in February 2025, Srinivasan and his daughter, Rupa Gurunath, became the inaugural members of the CSKCL board. Srinivasan replaced his cousin R. Srinivasan as chairman, according to their annual report, which was released on September 2.
However, a week ago, Rupa, the former president of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), was appointed as the CSKCL’s full-time director.
Although he was never actively involved with the management of the CSK, Srinivasan was the driving force behind the franchise’s creation and the team’s owner under his business, India Cements.
N Srinivasan’s career as a cricket administrator over the years
Srinivasan started his career as a cricket administrator in 2002 when he became the president of the TNCA and was re-elected to the post in 2007. In 2011, he became the 30th president of the BCCI, succeeding Shashank Manohar, and made India a powerhouse in international cricket. He was then named the ICC chairman in 2014.
A significant concern has been raised over whether the new administration may cast doubt on the qualifications and credibility of 44-year-old MS Dhoni on the CSK team, given Srinivasan’s appointment as the new chairman of the team’s parent business.
Given that the CSK have reportedly been searching for a number of new hires, MS Dhoni is most likely to participate in his final IPL season in 2026.
Who is the new chairman of CSK?
As per the media reports, N Srinivasan is the new chairman of CSK.
Who is the current skipper of CSK?
Ruturaj Gaikwad is the current skipper of CSK.
