Afghanistan’s veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has dethroned Bangladesh’s former captain Shakib Al Hasan to claim the new No. 1 spot on the latest ICC Men’s ODI All-Rounder rankings on February 14, Wednesday.
Shakib Al Hasan held the undisputed No. 1 spot for close to five years, but due to an ongoing injury, Shakib lost the position. However, Nabi’s recent performance in the ongoing three-match ODI series between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan has helped him gain the top spot.
In the first ODI match against Sri Lanka, the 39-year-old Nabi played a splendid innings of 136 runs and also took a wicket (1/44) in a losing cause as Afghanistan fell short by 42 runs while chasing 382.
The all-rounder Nabi now has 314 rating points, which is more than Shakib’s (310), who held the position for close to five years. The latter has now fallen to the second spot after missing a few games for Bangladesh. Shakib Al Hasan became No. 1 ranked ODI all-rounder back in 7th May, 2019 and maintained the top spot for 1739 days.
