Naseem Shah picked one wicket in the ongoing encounter against Bangladesh.

Pakistani speedster Naseem Shah gave his team an injury scare during his side’s Super 4 match against Bangladesh at tha Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on September 6, 2023.

Naseem Shah has opened the bowling for Pakistan with Shaheen Afridi in the Asia Cup and has been a star so far for the Men in Green. His speed and accuracy, along with his batting ability has made the 20-year-old a go-to player for Babar Azam and helped Pakistan become the no.1 ranked ODI side in the world.

However, Shah suffered a serious injury scare while fielding at the boundary and had to go off the field for treatment.

The incident occurred in the seventh over of Bangladesh's innings while Naseem was fielding at fine leg off the bowling of Shaheen Afridi. Mohammad Naim flicked the delivery off his pads to the fine leg boundary, and Naseem put in a full-length dive to his left before clutching his arm in pain.

He continued to writhe in pain for a few more seconds as the physio rushed to treat him, after which he was led off the field. Mohammad Haris came in as a substitute for Naseem.

Naseem was assessed to ascertain the extent of the damage and, in good news for Pakistan, he returned to the field at the end of the 11th over. Any serious injury to the talented pacer would have unsettled the Pakistan team’s plans for the upcoming World Cup in India.

Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim start rebuilding Bangladesh innings after early wickets

Meanwhile, in the first Super 4s stage encounter in Lahore, Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first. However, the Pakistani speedsters humbled their top order.

Naseem Shah got Mehidy Hasan Miraz for a golden duck, which came after he had hit a brilliant ton against Afghanistan. Then Litton Das, who made his comeback into the side, was dismissed by Shaheen Afridi for 16 runs and Mohammad Naim could only make 20 before Haris Rauf had him caught and bowled.

The veteran pair of Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim got together when Bangladesh was 47/4 and have added 50 runs so far for the 5th wicket.
