Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah is ruled out of the remainder Asia Cup 2023.

Pakistan suffered a huge setback as Naseem Shah was ruled out of the remainder of Asia Cup 2023 tournament. Naseem suffered a shoulder injury against India in their super 4 game. Naseem Shah had to walk back during Indian innings, and he didn’t come out to bat as well. Similarly, Haris Rauf also walked back in between the innings, and he also didn’t come out to bat. Pakistan has included Zaman Khan as Naseem Shah's replacement.

Pakistan cricket team’s medical team is keeping a close eye on Naseem Shah and will be working on him to get him ready for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. Haris Rauf, on the other hand, is recovering well and could take part in the upcoming game. In a PCB official release, team doctor Sohail Saleem said, "These two fast bowlers are our assets, and the team’s medical panel will provide them the best possible care ahead of the all-important World Cup."

Zaman Khan drafted in for Naseem Shah

Zaman Khan joined Pakistan camp on Wednesday morning and could find his place in the playing XI if Pakistan goes in with three pace bowlers and Faheem Ashraf as an all-rounder. Looking at the wicket on Tuesday, they will also be tempted to field Mohammad Nawaz along with Zaman and Faheem Ashraf, as Haris Rauf may be rested for one more game. Shahnawaz Dahani will also join Pakistan camp on Thursday morning as cover.

22-years-old right-arm pacer Zaman Khan has played six T20Is for his national team but has yet to make his debut in the one-day internationals. Zaman made his T20I debut against Afghanistan in March of this year. He has picked up four wickets in his six T20I games. Zaman is also known for his brute pace and will share the new ball with Shaheen Afridi. Pakistan will be looking to play no-risk cricket in their next two games, as the World Cup is just a few weeks away and no team can afford any injuries in their camp.
