Naseem Shah was not happy with Maryam Nawaz getting a queen treatment during PSL 2026 opener.
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 started off with a clash between Lahore Qalandars and Hyderabad Kingsmen. Even before the campaign started, the league was affected by the ongoing Middle East conflict, which resulted in a shortage of petroleum. It led to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) being forced to conduct the tournament behind closed doors at two stadiums, Lahore and Karachi.
The tournament has already been part of controversies, as on the very first day, fans saw the colour of the white ball changing to pink, which was very unexpected. It was mainly due to the low quality of the maroon kit of Hyderabad Kingsmen, which received a lot of backlash.
Another highlight of the day was the presence of PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi, along with many other elites of society, at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The general public was not allowed to watch the game, but seeing many elites attending the match attracted criticism. Pakistani cricketer Naseem Shah also slammed Maryam Nawaz, the sitting Chief Minister of Punjab, for attending the game.

Shah quoted a video of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), writing, “Why is she treated like the queen at Lord’s?”
However, shortly after posting, he deleted the tweet to avoid further backlash and controversy, but fans had already taken screenshots, and it went viral. Naseem later clarified that his account was hacked and that he was not in control of it at the time of the tweet. He wrote, “This account of Naseem was recently hacked but has now been recovered successfully.”
Naseem, notably, is part of Rawalpindi franchise in 2026 PSL. He bagged record bid of PKR 86.5 million ($3.1M approx), becoming the most expensive player in the 2026 auction.
