Nathan Lyon celebrates Edgbaston test win in the pub where Warner punched Root

Nathan Lyon's celebration at the pub leads to England's Barmy Army declaring war.

Australia spinner Nathan Lyon stirred the rowdy England team fan group the Barmy Army thanks to him celebrating the Kangaroos' win in the first Test in Edgbaston by 2 wickets in the same pub where David Warner had infamously punched Joe Root on the 2013 tour.

As if that weren't enough, the pub served as the headquarters for England supporters' group Barmy Army during the opening Test after the raucous group posted a photo of Nathan Lyon dubbing it "all-out war."

At Edgbaston, Australia defeated England by two wickets in the first Test when Ben Stokes' decision to declare at 393/8 in the first innings backfired on his team. Australia got the winning runs on a soggy Day 5, with captain Pat Cummins taking the credit. Australia now leads the series 1-0.

After the game, Australian players made the decision to celebrate their triumph, and they made an unexpected choice for the location.

“This is all out war now”- Barmy Army reacts to Nathan Lyon celebrating in their pub

Lyon was among the Australian athletes who made the trip to a Birmingham pub to toast the triumph, but it turned out to be the same tavern with an Australian theme where Warner had attacked Root in 2013.

Lyon was among the players who celebrated the victory with many Australian fans present at the same site, whereas Warner and some other Australian players opted to forego the festivities this time.

As one of the England supporters shared a photo with Lyon, it just so happened that numerous Barmy Army supporters were also there because it served as their headquarters.

“This is all out war now, The Aussies celebrated yesterday’s win in our HQ for the week. Apologies @WalkaboutBrum, we’ll make sure it’s full for the 2nd Test," Barmy Army tweeted.

The second Test between England and Australia will be played at the Lord’s from June 28.
