Nathan Lyon is just 4 wickets away from completing 500 test wickets.

England’s ‘Bazball’ tactic has become the recent reason for their success in test cricket. The newly coined ‘Bazball’ word has recently been added to the Collins dictionary as well. Australia were the only opponent to have success against English team. Veteran Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon has now taken a dig at England’s ‘Bazball’ tactics and said they are 2-0 up against them. Nathan Lyon also criticised the tactic.

England had a dominating run with the new tactic under head coach Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes. The new aggressive brand of cricket did make them a very dangerous side. In the recently concluded Ashes series England started poorly but a little nuanced approach made them come back nicely after trailing 0-2 in the 5-match test series.

In a chat show ‘Front Bar’ Nathan Lyon was asked about ‘Bazball’ and the off-spinner cheekily responded, “Well I’m 2-0 up against Bazball, so I’m pretty happy.” Lyon was part of the first two tests and he got injured in the mid-series. England made a great comeback in Ashes 2023 and the series ended with a 2–2 score line. Australia retained the Ashes series as they held the trophy alongside them for the last 6 years.

Nathan Lyon added, “To me, it’s a load of s**t if you ask me… It’s a brand of English cricket that they want to keep going, it’s in the dictionary as well which is remarkable isn’t it?” Nathan Lyon was sarcastic in his statement. Nathan Lyon made his return after the injury and took part in Australian domestic tournament, Sheffield Shield tournament for New South Wales. Lyon picked up 4 wickets in the 3 first-class matches he played so far in the tournament.

Nathan Lyon will be playing in the upcoming 3-match test series against Pakistan. The first test between Australia and Pakistan begins on 14th December at Optus Stadium in Perth. Nathan Lyon has played 122 test matches so far and picked up 496 wickets. Lyon is 4 wickets away from the record 500 milestone. He has taken 45 wickets in 12 test matches against Pakistan. Lyon missed the final three Ashes tests against England in July-August this year.
