Nathan Lyon shared inside details of what happened in the Lord's long room after Bairstow's dismissal.

The second Ashes Test had a series of controversies and one of them was Jonny Bairstow's dismissal. The England keeper ducked a bouncer and left his crease immediately to meet his partner Ben Stokes in the middle. Alex Carey saw the opportunity and threw the ball directly at the stumps. After a brief review, Bairstow was given out.

After the incident, when the team made their way back to the dressing room, a few men in the Long Room abused the Australian players.

Nathan Lyon, who was present during the incident, opened up about what exactly had happened.

“There were a few Australian guys and a few English guys in the lunchroom and I hobbled up on my crutches and stood in the middle of it and tried to calm things down a little bit." Lyon told the Willow Talk Cricket Podcast.

He revealed that Bairstow had a few words but did not talk more about it. "Jonny had a few words here or there. That's all part of it, I'm all for it."

As the abuses continues towards the Australian players, the club had to call security and had resulted in the suspension of three MCC members. Lyon also said that he had an old English lady coming up to him and apologising for the members' behaviour.

"I actually had an older lady come up to me in tears, an English lady in tears from the main members' area, and she said 'I've got to go home. I just want to apologise to you Australian cricketers for the way everyone has reacted inside the Lord's," Lyon said.

Lyon added that he thought the dismissal was fair and Bairstow was out. “I was in the change room and I just erupted. I was like ‘how good. Suck eggs. That’s out every day’," he said.

England bounced back to win the third Test match to make it 1-2. The fourth Test will begin on 19th July at Old Trafford Cricket Ground.
