Naveen-ul-haq and Virat Kohli shared a warm hug during IND vs AFG clash in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Afghanistan cricket team had a memorable campaign in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and won a few games in the tournament. Afghans defeated England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Netherlands and remained in the hunt for top-4 place for a long time. Afghanistan also challenged Australia and South Africa but got a shock defeat against Bangladesh in their opening game. India also outclassed Afghans, but the local fans had a lot of liking for this team.

India played Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi, where Naveen-ul-Haq’s rivalry with Virat Kohli also came fresh. The fans were teasing Naveen-ul-Haq with Virat-Virat chants wherever he played. Later on in Delhi, when these two players met, Virat tried to stop the crowd with chants and cheer for Naveen. They both later hugged each other and shared a light moment to settle the issue right there.

Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq has now revealed that Virat Kohli came forward to finish the tussle they both had during IPL 2023. Naveen-ul-haq revealed this in a chat with Lucknow Super Giants social media and said, “He told me, 'let's finish it.' I said, Yeah, let's finish it. We laughed about it, hugged, and moved on. He also said that after this, you won't hear my name. You will only hear support from the crowd.” Naveen and Virat’s images during the action went viral.

Fans on social media also loved the rivalry they shared as well as Virat and Naveen’s mutual respect they saw during India’s league encounter against Afghanistan. The rift started during IPL 2023 in a match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants on May 1 at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. It all started when Virat Kohli fired a few words at Naveen-ul-Haq when Afghan bowler was coming out to bat in a low-scoring chase.

It became tense when Virat and Naveen had an altercation after the game, and the situation worsened when Lucknow Super Giants mentor Gautam Gambhir got involved. The game became the most controversial one as Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli also had a big altercation. Later on, the authorities put a big fine on all of them. India will be playing in the ICC Cricket World Cup finals against Australia at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
