Vivian Kingma breached the anti-doping code during ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 in May.

Netherlands fast bowler Vivian Kingma has been handed a three-month ban by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The right-arm pacer has been found guilty of breaching ICC anti-doping code.

The 30-year-old tested positive for Benzoylecgonine, a cocaine metabolite which is considered a substance of abuse under the ICC anti-doping code. He breached the code during an ODI against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on May 12 during ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League Two 2023-27.

Kingma has accepted the offence, but has claimed that the substance was used out of competition. His three-month ban is effective from August 15, 2025. The ban can be reduced to one month if Kingma is able to prove that he has satisfactorily completed an approved treatment programme.

ICC disqualifies Vivian Kingma’s records since May 12

As per the rules of ICC anti-doping code, Kingma’s records in the ODI against UAE on May 12 and his subsequent games have been disqualified. Since May 12, he has played three ODIs and one T20I. Kingma went wicketless during the clash against UAE. During the tournament, Kingma picked 19 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 21.73.

He last played for Netherlands during the T20I Tri-Series against Scotland and Nepal in June. He played one match during the campaign, where he could not get any wickets. Scotland defeated Nepal in the final of the tournament to win the trophy.

So far, Kingma has played 30 ODIs and 26 T20Is for Netherlands. At an average of 28.85, he has picked 40 wickets in 50-over cricket. In the shortest format, the right-arm pacer has bagged 24 scalps at an average of 28.42 and an economy of 7.81.
