List of all new faces picked in India's Test & ODI squads for Afghanistan series

A few players have earned their maiden call-up in the India vs Afghanistan series.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India‘s Test and ODI squads for the upcoming series against Afghanistan. Both teams are set to clash in one test and three ODIs.
The one-off test will be played from June 6 to 10 at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. The ODI series will start on June 14 with the first clash at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
The second game will be played on June 17 at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, while the third encounter will take place on June 20 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Shubman Gill will captain India in both campaigns. One of the biggest shocks was the appointment of KL Rahul as the Test vice-captain in place of Rishabh Pant. Moreover, the latter has also been dropped from the ODI squad, with Ishan Kishan making a comeback.
Senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been rested from both series, while veteran batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are part of the ODI series. They last played in the ODI series against New Zealand in January.
With his impressive performance in the Ranji Trophy, Devdutt Padikkal has made a comeback in the Test team. Pacer Prasidh Krishna is part of both the test and ODI squads. Mohammed Siraj joined him in tests, and Arshdeep Singh in the ODIs.
Kuldeep Yadav will lead the spin attack in both campaigns, with the additional help from Washington Sundar. Some uncapped players have also earned their maiden call-up in the Test and ODI series against Afghanistan.
