IND vs NZ: New Zealand playing XI vs India, Match 21, ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 – Predicted
New Zealand will lock horns with India in match No. 21 off the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
New Zealand entered the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as dark horses. They have certainly proved everyone wrong and thrashed every opposition that came in their path. New Zealand are handsomely sitting at the top of the points table and have won all four games.
But they will face a tough challenge now. On Sunday, New Zealand will be up against India, who have also won all four games and are in tremendous form. So it is expected to be a high-voltage clash between two in-form teams in the competition. Let's check out the predicted playing XI for New Zealand against India.
IND vs NZ: New Zealand's Predicted playing XI vs India
1. Devon Conway :
Devon Conway has been the best Kiwi batter in this tournament. The left-hander has always enjoyed batting in India, even in IPL, and has done the same in this World Cup. Conway has scored 249 runs in four innings at an average and strike rate of 83.00 and 104.62. India won't want him to get set because he can take the game away from them.
2. Will Young :
Will Young got a chance in the absence of Kane Williamson and has grabbed the opportunity with both hands. He has scored two half-centuries in the three matches he has played. Young has scored 124 runs at an average of 41.33 and has given New Zealand good starts, and that will be his role in the high-pressure game against India as well.
3. Rachin Ravindra :
Rachin Ravindra has been a brilliant addition to his New Zealand team. The youngster has looked like a million-dollar player and has performed pretty well. He has scored 215 runs in four innings at an average and strike rate of 71.66 and 106.96, respectively. He is an aggressive player, and India will look to get him out early in the innings.
4. Daryl Mitchell :
Daryl Mitchell has also looked on and off so far in this tournament. He got some starts and then got out cheaply in a couple of games. But he is an important player for this team because of his ability to take the game deep and long. Mitchell will look to take responsibility in the absence of Williamson.
5. Tom Latham (c & wk) :
Tom Lotham stood up when others failed in New Zealand's last game against Afghanistan and played a captain's knock of 68 runs to take the score past the 250-runs mark. Latham has performed well against India over the years, and being a captain, he is expected to do well this time around as well. Latham has scored two half-centuries in two innings, he has played so far.
6. Glenn Phillips :
Man of the match from last game, Glenn Philips, will be high on confidence and will look to replicate his performance once again. Philips has scored 91 runs at an average of 45.50 and can be a tricky customer to handle for Indian bowlers. Adding to that, he is also a useful spinner who has already taken three wickets.
7. Mark Chapman :
Mark Chapman hasn't had many chances in this tournament. But he is an important player on this team who can play quick cameos to take the score out of reach. He scored a 12-ball 25 against Afghanistan in the last game, which helped New Zealand reach near 290. The left-hander will be looking for something similar that can take his team into a good position.
8. Mitchell Santner :
Mitchell Santner is the man with the golden arm. He is sitting at the top of the table with most wickets and has picked up wickets in different situations. Santner has taken 11 wickets at an economy rate of 4.40 and it will not be easy for Indian batters, who have not played a quality spin until now in this tournament.
9. Matt Henry :
Indians can't forget when they lost the semi-finals of the 2019 edition and lost three quick wickets. It was Matt Henry who did that damage, and he will be back again. Henry has overshadowed Trent Boult and has taken nine wickets in four innings at an economy of 4.83, which is just exceptional for a fast bowler. India should be worried about him in Dharamsala because he can use those conditions to good effect.
10. Lockie Ferguson :
Lockie Ferguson will be bowling thunder-bolts against India on Sunday. This man can bowl over 150 km/h regularly, and on the pitch, which will help him, and can also be lethal. Ferguson has taken six wickets in three innings at an economy rate of 4 and has troubled the opposition with his pace and short-pitch length.
11. Trent Boult :
Trent Boult has always enjoyed bowling against the Indian team. He is one of the most successful pacers against India and can make the batters venerable. Boult with this swing and conditions can take a couple of early wickets that can put India under pressure. India are mainly dependent on their top-order.
