Who is Nikhil Chaudhary? All you need to know about Indian origin cricketer playing in BBL 2023-24 for Hobart Hurricanes

Nikhil Chaudhary made his BBL debut for Hobart Hurricanes in the ongoing BBL 2023-24.

The 13th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL 2023–24) is underway, with the Perth Scorchers defending their title. This tournament will see a total of 40 matches played between the eight teams, and the top four will make it to the next round. Over the years, the BBL has given a platform to many talented stars from various countries to showcase their talents.

Just like 27-year-old Indian-origin all-rounder, Nikhil Chaudhary. He is part of one of the eight BBL teams, the Hobart Hurricanes, and made his BBL debut in the last game of his team on December 20 against the defending champions Perth Scorchers. On his debut, he scored a 31-ball 40 in a difficult game where his team managed a total of 172 runs. He also bowled one over for five runs.

Who is Nikhil Chaudhary?

Nikhil Chaudhary was born in Delhi on May 4, 1996. He is the most recent Indian-origin cricketer to feature in the BBL. He has Indian citizenship, and it is not clear that he has Australian citizenship to play as a local player, which has made him one of the only Indian-born players to feature in BBL. Nikhil made his T20 debut for Punjab during the 2016–17 inter-state T20 tournament.

He played 12 T20s for Punjab at the domestic level. He scored 106 runs and took 7 wickets in those matches. In search of more opportunities, he shifted to Australia three years ago and played cricket in Brisbane. His consistency in grade cricket helped him be picked by the Hobart Hurricanes.

His last appearance for Punjab came against Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on November 27, 2019. He has also represented Punjab in two List A games in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2017. Nikhil Chaudhary will be looking to do well in his debut season of the BBL.
